CEREC® dental crowns are a modern alternative to traditional dental crowns. In just one appointment, your custom CEREC® crown can be created and secured to your tooth, right in our Tampa office.
What Is a CEREC® Crown?
A crown is a dental restoration that completely covers the outside of a severely decayed or broken tooth. Made from orally biocompatible porcelain, a crown will restore the natural look and feel of a damaged tooth. In our office, crowns can be completed in just one visit thanks to the use of CAD/CAM, a computerized imaging and custom design system.
CEREC® crowns are different from traditional crowns because they can be made right in our office. The entire process of setting a crown can be completed in a single visit, without the need to wear a temporary crown for a few weeks. Then, you will return for a second appointment.
How Are CEREC® Crowns Applied?
To complete a CEREC crown restoration, we’ll first prep the tooth by shaving it down. Then, a 3D camera is used to take a digital image of the tooth. The digital image replaces the need to make a physical impression of the tooth, which can be messy and even cause gagging in some patients.
Special CEREC® computer software is used to design every detail of your crown with precision and accuracy. Each ridge, pit, indentation, and fissure will be accounted for, ensuring that the crown provides the best possible fit. Then, your all-porcelain crown is milled onsite in as little as 15 minutes.
Once the porcelain CEREC® crown has been milled, we’ll fit it to your tooth. Then, we’ll polish it for a natural finish and bond it into place.
CEREC® crowns provide a remarkable fit for complete patient comfort. Plus, given that CEREC® crowns are completed in just one office visit, you’ll save time and money by not having to return for additional appointments.
