CEREC® CAD/CAM Restoration

With CEREC® technology, we’re able to complete dental restorations in a single office visit. This offers patients greater flexibility and convenience for a range of restoration types.

What Is CEREC® CAD/CAM Restoration?

CEREC® is an acronym for “Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramic”. With this method, restoration materials can be milled and ground onsite for a quick, custom fit.

The CEREC® method uses CAD/CAM technology. CAD stands for computer-aided design and CAM stands for computer-aided manufacturing. These advanced technologies contribute to the remarkable speed and efficiency of CEREC® restorations.

What Does CEREC® CAD/CAM Restoration Involve?

The CEREC® restoration process starts with a digital impression of your teeth. This scan takes detailed 3D images of your teeth to create custom restorations. Without the hassle of a traditional impression tray, the CEREC® method provides patients with a more pleasant treatment experience.

After the digital impression has been taken, CEREC® software is used to create ultra-precise restoration designs. This highly advanced software is fast and efficient, helping you get treated and out the door faster.

We now use CEREC® milling and grinding to bring restoration designs to life. This process of milling or grinding restoration materials, such as a ceramic or solid zirconia, allows for exceptional accuracy. So, you’ll receive smooth, precisely-shaped restorations with slender fissures.

The final step in the CEREC® process for creating restorations is sinstering and glazing. This process is completed chairside with exceptional speed and accuracy.

Unparalleled Speed and Convenience With CEREC® CAD/CAM Restorations

In total, CEREC® restorations typically take one to two hours to complete. This means that the entire restoration process, from the evaluation to the final restoration placement, can be done in just one visit.

As a single-visit treatment, CEREC® only requires one anesthetic and no temporary prosthesis. This is far more convenient than traditional restorative dentistry treatments, in which you’d need to attend one office visit to take impressions and place a temporary prosthesis, then another visit to place the permanent restoration.
