Did you need braces as a child, but your parents couldn’t afford them? Perhaps your parents and your dentist decided that your teeth were not crooked enough to get braces when you were younger. There are many reasons that someone might not have a straight smile as an adult.

You might have thought that you would never have straight teeth, because after all, braces are for kids, right? While that might be the case, there are now new technologies being used to straighten teeth without embarrassment, and it is available for adults.

What Is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a teeth-straightening system that uses trays formed to your mouth to gradually shift the teeth into a straight and properly aligned position. The trays are clear and invisible while you are wearing them, so no one has to know that you are going through this process.

How Does It Work?

When you visit your dentist and talk to them about your desire to have straight teeth, they will help you decide if Invisalign is right for you. If so, they will take measurements of your mouth and teeth to determine how much straightening is required to develop a treatment plan.

You’ll get your first Invisalign mouthguard soon after the measurements are taken. Every few weeks you will go back to the dentist to be examined and have the next Invisalign trays ordered. This process will continue until your teeth are straight and properly aligned.

Living with Invisalign

Using the Invisalign liners is very easy. You wear them all the time and only remove the trays when you eat and drink, then simply brush and pop them back in.  They do not impede your day at all, and they are easy to keep clean along with caring for your teeth. Invisalign is a great way to correct your smile gradually, naturally, and almost invisibly.  For the best results, it is recommended that you wear them 20-22 hours per day.
